Schurch Family Heritage tour – update from the mountains

Thun Castle

Greetings again – Another good day together! We had lovely views of the Jungfrau, Monch, and Eigger mountains last night from Interlaken and again this morning walking to the Castle Thun entrance. The castle has had a major update since our 2013 tour – quite impressive.

The Kambly Cookie Factory was a hit! There was internal miscommunication about serving soup so everyone received gratis coffee/tea – which went well with the cookie samples!

The Fankhaus visit was priceless. Regia did a superb job sharing the Anabaptist story from her unique viewpoint. We sang “Amazing Grace” together, and the morning provided a touching experience for many tour members.

We were warmly welcomed by the Langnau Mennonite Church pastor, and then more than half of the group walked the 15 minutes to the museum.

Then to Sumiswald and that first of seven trips up the narrow winding road to Luderenalp accompanied by the expected oohs, ahhs and gasps as we met a car! Unfortunately it began raining as we arrived, quickly followed by fog.  I am praying the mountains will be visible while we are here and we can enjoy sitting on the long bench outside.
