Frequently Asked Questions

Why is travel insurance necessary?

Travel insurance is important for protecting the investment you’re putting into your tour. Most prepaid expenses are non-refundable from the travel supplier. Tour Magination strongly recommends travel protection to help guard against unexpected events before and during your upcoming trip so you can travel with the peace of mind and security you deserve. The cost of this insurance is much less compared to the financial loss you could be protected from if you have to interrupt or cancel your entire trip unexpectedly. The cost of this insurance is also small in comparison to the potential costs of an unexpected medical emergency in a foreign country.

When should I buy insurance?
Many insurance plans may be purchased right up until the date of departure however, if you are considering coverage for the trip cancellation it is recommended to purchase insurance on the day your tip is booked and at the very latest on the same day as your final payment.

*If you would like to purchase Maulife’s Premium Protection Plan, you must do so within 72 hours of making your initial deposit.
What is trip interruption?
Trip interruption insurance is a post-departure benefit which covers extra costs if you need to return home sooner or later than planned. It reimburses you for non-refundable and/or non-transferable portions of unused, prepaid travel arrangements. Trip interruption could include missed connections due to airline schedule changes, unforeseen illness, injury, or death of a traveller, a travelling companion, or a non-travelling family member, postponed travel due to unsafe weather conditions, the theft or loss of an important travel document such as a passport, etc.
Can I extend my coverage if I’m doing more travel outside of the tour?
Yes. Please indicate that you would like extended coverage when you contact us for a quote for inform us before departure of your tour.
Do I have to pay upfront for medical care while I’m travelling?
In almost all cases, no. Once your insurance company has been notified of your situation, a confirmation that you purchased insurance coverage is sent to the medical provider. The medical provider will then bill your insurance provider.

There may be some medical providers who will require a small deposit or assurance that they will be paid. In the unusual event that a foreign hospital requires the patient to make a deposit or, in rare situations, pay the hospital directly, your insurance provider will promptly reimburse these expenses once they ensure that the terms and conditions of the policy have been met and all the claim documentation is received.
How do I call in an emergency?
It is crucial to call your insurance provider’s emergency number before you get emergency medical treatment.
