Amish European Heritage Tour – Third Update

By John Sharp, Tour Leader

Still on the trail of Jacob Ammann, the tailor-elder of the Amish: Sainte-Marie-aux-Mine and Ohnenheim, Alsace, France.

Ohnenheim: “The way I see it, the division did not have to happen.”

The mill at Ohnenheim, scene of a last-ditch effort to reconcile the differences between Ammann and the Mennonites. As the meeting ended, one of them said, “There you have it.” It was over.

Jacob Ammann’s home in the 1690s— at the foot of the ridge, upstream from Saint-Mary-of-the-Mines. (Thanks to Leroy Beachy for the location tip.)
