Central Asia tour 2019 – Khiva

Visiting the Mennonite Museum in Khiva, Central Asia Tour

We have arrived in Khiva, where the Mennonite museum is now open. It was to open in 2009, but the government shut it down. We were assured by the director of museums in this city that when there was a change of government, the museum would open. He was right! Three years ago the first president after independence, who had been with the KGB, ran this country like a Soviet republic. But the new president is progressive and things are changing rapidly here—all for the better.

In the photo,Jim Juhnke and I are getting our first glimpse of the new exhibit. Can you tell we are happy?
