The Sommer Family Custom Tour spent the last two days in Bavaria, Germany in the village of Oberammergau. The family visited many of the familiar sites we visit on our European Heritage tours; however, with 8 grandchildren along all between the ages of 4 to 15 years, we needed some other activities.
Yesterday we visited King Ludwig’s Neuschwanstein Castle. The children enjoyed the hike up to the castle. When John Ruth asked what they liked best about the castle, they said the King’s bedroom. They also enjoyed the ice cream.
It was wonderful for the last two nights to be at Hotel Turmwirt and to be hosted by the Glas family. The parents could relax and visit. The children could enjoy playing with each other at the hotel without disturbing other guests.
Everyone is now checked in for their flights back to North America. We return home with many good memories. The children and grandchildren said thank you to Jim and Susan (Mom & Dad, Grandpa & Grandma) for a wonderful gift and tour.
